Here are the Top 10 Things I Learned as a New Weim Owner

We have now had Winston for 5 months total. Here are the top 10 things I learned, as I was not a previous Weim owner. Take it or leave it – I am not a professional just a regular single mom!

    1. Stick to the crate – no matter what! Do no waiver!!
    2. DVD – Crate Games – own it!!
    3. “Bully sticks – buy stock in that company!
    4. DO NOT PEE PAD TRAIN – Take them out in the snow – breaking the pee pad training is insanely hard! (TRUST ME!!)
    5. Bell train to go outside – it really does work!!
    6. Take them everywhere with you – this way new sounds won’t freak the out!
    7. Invest in a good high quality food. Not all puppy chow is the same!
    8. TAKE ADVICE from advanced weim owners/breeders.
    9. Get pet insurance – I pay 53 a month and I have already gotten 300 back so it basically pays for itself!
    10. TRAIN – TRAIN – TRAIN AND TRAIN more!!

Personally I have used Healthy Paws and Trupanion, but there are a lot of companies out there and I haven’t researched them. I’d be interested in hearing about anyone else’s experience with pet insurance!

    JW’s Dog Toy Recommendations

Orbee Ball. Need we say more? If your dog loves to play ball, this is a major upgrade from her old stinky tennis ball!

GoDog toys with ChewGuard: Roadkill, Mr. Monkey with “pullable” arms, Toughskin rhino, and the stretchy moose. All these guys take a beating and keep on kicking. The monkey stood up to 4 puppies and 2 big dogs playing tug with it!

Zogoflex Hurley, Huck, and Tux are great toys that our dogs love to chase, roll, and bounce. The Bumi (a thinner, “S” shaped tug toy) went south thanks to my sister’s pit mix. They do have a good guarantee for a one-time replacement or refund, so always worth looking into!
